Cary Vance/VP Promotion

Cary Vance began his Music Industry career in 1985 working at the legendary record shop Vinyl Mania, located on Carmine Street in New York City.

In 1986 Vinyl Mania started a record label and Cary promoted all of their early releases. It was there that Cary met Todd Terry and put out one of his first releases, the Freestyle classic; "Why You Wanna Go" by Fascination.

In late 1987 Cary moved on to Virgin Records as their head of Dance Promotion. During his 4+ years at the label, Cary helped to create the plans that established artists such as: Paula Abdul, Lenny Kravitz, Inner City, Soul II Soul & Nenah Cherry. While at Virgin Records Cary Co-Executive Produced the Platinum plus selling LP: SHUT UP AND DANCE, by Paula Abdul.

In 1991 Cary decided to start his own Promotion & Marketing company, a few of his early successes included: the Night Crawlers "Push The Feeling On" and Chaka Demus & Pliers "Murder She Wrote". In 1992 Cary decided to team up with Issy Sanchez (who at the time had his own Promotion & Marketing Company) to form Elite Promotions. They had tremendous success with many records including: Captain Hollywood "More and More" and 95S "Whoot There It Is".

In 1994 Profile records hired Cary as their Head Of Promotion. Run DMC, DJ Quik, Second II None & N2Deep were among the many R&B leaning acts Cary was involved with. On the Dance side 2 Bad Mice "Bombscare" & the Mighty Dub Cats "Magic Carpet Ride" were among his successes.

In 1996 Cary moved over to become the Head Of Promotion for Robbins Entertainment. After helping the label gain success with hit singles from Rockell "I Fell In Love" & Crush "Jellyhead", Cary was presented with the opportunity to return to Virgin Records.

In 1997 Cary returned to Virgin Records where he rose to the position of VP Promotion for the label. Among the many artists Cary helped to establish, or re-establish were: The Spice Girls, Janet Jackson, Tina Turner, Lenny Kravitz, Aaliyah, The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Mariah Carey, Shaggy, Daft Punk, Melanie C, Fatboy Slim & The Basement Jaxx.

Among the many accomplishments Cary had at Virgin were Helping to make "Try Again" by Aaliyah the first ever Airplay Only single to go #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Creating the plan for Janet's "All For You" that made it the first single ever to have every R&R Reporting Mainstream Top 40, Rhythm Top 40 and R&B Radio Station in the country add it in it's first week of release. Cary also won the International Dance Music Awards In-House Promoter Of The Year Award for 2001.

In 2002 Cary left Virgin Records and went on to join the team at Promo Only as their VP Promotion for Promo Only Promotions. Among the numerous artists that Promo Only Promotions has been involved with include: Madonna, Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, Kylie Minogue, Daniel Bedingfield, Lasgo, BT, Paul van Dyk, D.H.T., Freemasons, Lucas Prata, Scissor Sisters, Goldfrapp, Cascada, Deborah Cox, David Guetta, Eric Prydz, Gorillaz, Hello Goodbye, P!nk, Hilary Duff & David Guetta

Over the past 5 years Promo Only Promotions has been involved with the promotion & marketing campaigns on over 50 Dance Radio Airplay chart #1's .

At the Annual International Dance Music Awards shows held during the Winter Music Conference. Cary has been honored with the Best Independent Record Promoter Award for the year's 2003, 2004 & 2006.

John Parker John Parker

John Parker has been involved in the music business since 1985. His career began when he joined Kingsborough Community College's radio station, B91 (NY's only 24/7 Dance Radio Station at the time). John held the positions of Publicity Director, Music Director and then Program Director for B91 during his stay. During his time at the station, this 10 watt "powerhouse" had a weekly cume of 250,000 as verified by an independent auditor.

In 1989, Parker made the jump from Radio to Records, joining independent powerhouse label, Profile Records. There he had a chance to work with Run-DMC, DJ Quik, Rob Base, N2DEEP, Judy Torres, Special Ed, Poor Righteous Teachers and many others. At Profile, John was in charge of Retail and Dance Promotion.

After a 5 year stay at Profile, he went to work for Select Records. There he worked retail marketing for acts like The Jerky Boys, Chubb Rock, Red Hot Lover Tone and Whistle.

In late 1995, John was given the opportunity to join a start-up label that was going to be opened by his former Profile boss, Cory Robbins. At Robbins Entertainment, John held the position of VP, A&R/Dance Promotion up until leaving the company in 2009. He has signed or worked with Cascada, D.H.T., DJ Sammy, Lasgo, Ian Van Dahl, AnnaGrace, Rockell, September, Reina, Cynthia, George Lamond to name a few.

Parker was also one half of the Mix team known as the Happy Boys. With over 1.5 Million Mix CD's Sold, the Happy Boys are amongst the Biggest Selling Mixers of all Time.

He has Produced or Co-Produced over 30 Compilations on Robbins including the their best selling Trance Party, Dance Party, Best of Trance, Best of House and Techno Party Series.

2006 saw John start his own fully licensed internet radio station, B91 The Rhythm of the City. B91 is the #2 ranked Dance Pop station on Live365.com at the end of 2009.

In 2009, John started his own label, Parker Recordings, that is distributed by Next Plateau. His very first signing, Alex Sayz, had his single debut on the Billboard Dance Airplay go to #11 on the Billboard Dance Airplay chart. Currently Parker Recordings is the American home for the Star Pilots and Patric McFly, in addition to Alex Sayz.

Awards include being a two-time winner of the IDMA Award for "Best National In House Record Promoter" at the Winter Music Conference.

John was also named the #1 Dance A&R Person in the World by HitQuarters.com for 2007. He also wound up on the list of overall A&R people in America at #14 and on the World Chart at #20.

In addition, John was the on-air celebrity judge for WNEW-FM's "NY Morning Mix Idol" in 2006. It was an official American Idol contest to find talent in NYC. He also is a founding board member of the Dance Music Hall of Fame, has been a part of the DanceStar Awards nominating committee and is a voting member of NARAS. He's also spoken at a number of music seminars, including the Winter Music Conference and DJ Times Expo, about issues from A&R to Marketing and Promotion.
